I have been on a mission to make my interior look new and figured it out. I just put a new top on so $ was tight. But couldn't stand having old crap on the inside. So I put seat covers on but they don't make them for the back seat. So I got a seat cover for a ranger beanch seat and hide the slack on the back side of the seat. It turned out better than I though.

Depending on the kind of interior you've got, an upgrade to later model seats might be an option for you.
For example, the time being I've got a set of 2001 Mustang GT seats in my 83 GT. The later model brackets are a direct bolt in, but you sit up a touch higher.... you can use your factory seat brackets to correct this.
