I have recently installed a bbk cold air intake on my stock 95 5.0.  I have been running midgrade gasoline in it and I am getting a slight valve chatter when the motor is torqued.  Is this a common problem or is my ignition timeing off a little bit.

you shouldn't need to run mid grade. I have a '94 GT with a K&N air charger kit and BBK long tube headers and still run regular unl. if you change the fuel grade you have to change your timing with the distributor which is really easy, just loosen the 1/2" bolt and turn it counter clock wise (i think?) the smallest turn can make a big difference so be careful.

Thanks for the info.  Just one problem, I checked my timing and it is set at factory adjustments.  I unplugged my spout connector and set the timing at 0 degrees and plugged the spout connector back in.  Is it normal for the timing to jump to around 10 degrees once the spout is connected or should I just disconnect the spout plug all together.  I know the spout is the equivilant to a vaccum tube on a carburated engine but should it make that much difference on an efi 5.0

It is normal.  Why dont you run through a few tankfulls of premium 93 or higher and see if your problem is less noticeable. I run 14 degrees initial timing (set with spout disconnected)and a hypertech plugin processor using premium and have no problems at all.At 0 degrees initial you probably feel no acceleration at all.Hope this helps with a start anyway. Good Luck.

One more thing . Make sure you've done a good tune-up, plugs ,wires ,etc.

Include in your tune up list - cleaning your MAF sensor.

I had the problem you are seeing for a while and in fact it got really bad.  After cheking some things over (and replacing my O2 sensors) I found that the air filter cleaner solution from my K&N filter had collected on the bare wire of my MAF sensor.  I carefully cleaned it up with some carb cleaner using a q-tip and all my problem went away.

I myself jus purchased a 95GT Conv...I like the car...very low miles an runs great, but when I purchased the car I wasnt aware hes been running Premium  an I for the past few days had been shovin Unleaded in, therefor causing that same annoying chatter...as well my Father used to have a lil Ford Ranger that did the same thign everytime using " Unleaded "...as well checking with my Mech for I was concerned I jus bought a melon..he assured me it was jus " Bad Gas "...said bump it up to premium maybe even some additives for a bit an stick with that an it'll clean up
