I just bought a 82 T-top notch 5.0. I know they are rare and have been following K.J's build and remember the origional article. When I heard about this car I got it quick. I know there are no production numbers but what would your guys estimate be on how many 82 t-top notch 5.0's were built. This car has factory t-top and is a factory 5.0. Just an estimate I won't hold you against it. Is this car worth more?

I guess this is as good a place as any to "officially" start being a little more active on our forums!
I'm glad to read you've been following my exploits with our T-top coupe project 'Stang, and congrats on finding that '82! That car has definitely got to be pretty rare.
As you know, I've had very little luck with finding out any production info on our '86. One minute I'm confident in my "less-than-one-thousand" guess, the next minute I'm actually trying to convince myself that the car might really be one of less than five hundred (factory 5.0/5-speed '86 T-top coupe models). I just don't know, dude, and I'm now really curious about your car, as it's four years older than ours!
Good luck with finding info. If you come up with a solid source, ask about the '86 project 'Stang...and see if there's numbers on Turner's '88 T-top LX (most were GTs) while you're at it.

Thanks for the reply. It is a factory T-top, it is also a factory 5.0, 4 speed manual and its factory black on black. I wanted to go all out and drag it, but I am almost leaning toward bringing it back to stock as it has the factory engine but tranny is now auto. Pedals are still installed for the stick. I also wanted to put a 82 GT nose and air dam on it. It has a 82 GT hood on it now. Tell me how to post pics and I will post a few

I have been a follower of the 86 T-top coupe project since day one. I love it!! I also have an 82 t-top lx coupe. However, it started life as a 4 cylinder manual, white with red interior. Not much is left of the original interior and drivetrain, it was also lightly hit on the right front corner. My plans include buying a 87-93 donor car for the interior, swapping in a 4.6 DOHC with the leftover parts from my Mach 1 project, 5 lug 4 wheel disks, and a sonic blue paint job to top it off. I will keep documentation of the entire restoration process and post as it progresses.

As far as production, I would guess (and this is a complete guess) pick a number less than 100. As far as survivors, I would pick a number less than 10. Rare car either way.
