i have an 89 gt and the other day i went out to start it and it was really hard to start. after finally getting it started it rans really ruff. when i was pulling out of my drive way and when i would give it harlde and gas it would almost backfire and almost stall. i let it set for a few hours and then tried it and it started up fine and ran fine. a few days later it did it again at a different time of the day. does anyone know what this might be and how i might go about fixing this problem? please help

Sounds like the ignition module has gone bad. I'd rpelace it and see what happens. Common problem.

If you haven't already, check the air intake and make sure all your clamps are tight. Any air leaks in the air intake system will cause what sounds like to me to be a lean pop, or backfire. I think if it was ignition, the miss would be constant, and not intermittent.

ok now on the computer problem, i was looking up new ones online and soe places are telling me that i have to get a mass air flow conversion kit to go with the new computer. if i already have the mass air on my car do i have to get a new one? shouldnt i be able to just buy the new computer and use the old one?
