I read the article "Plain Reign" about Tom Meyer's 96 Cobra and I liked some of the things he's done. One of the things I'm interested in is the extrude honing process on the 96 Cobra intake. When I started looking into it, I contacted Kennametal's Powerflo division who does all kinds of work to intakes and heads. One of the things they said was that the runners on early '96s are epoxied in place, therefore they cannot extrude hone them. Has anyone ever heard of this? Maybe Tom used a later model intake but the article doesn't say. I've read Sean Hyland's book about the Modular 4.6 and it has mentioned machining them shorter. Surely the runners would break off during this also. How can I know if I've got one of these intakes? Anyone know anything about this? I haven't!
