my 94 5.0 gt looses spark, sometimes it will shutoff and loose spark, then after it has set for a while it will star up and run fine for a while. i have already changed the ignition control module and the coil and it has run with the new parts and has now shut off again and will not start. has anyone ran into this problem before? i sure would appreciate any help or advice.

This could be a couple of problems. What you need to do is get a spark plug wire tester, so the next time the car dies, you can see if it is still getting spark or not.

If no spark, the module could be overheating. When you installed the new module, did you use heat sink compound on the back of the module?

If you still have spark but no run, that tells me you've got a fuel supply issue, so either the fuel pump or fuel pump relay is overheating and shutting the pump off, or the pump's overheating because it's bad and vapor locking.

had the same problem with my 1994 GT. It was the fuel pump. i havent seen many modules or coils go wrong on the 5.0 so is most likely fuel pump. When it does it again have someone hit the bottom of the tank on the passengers side with a hammer. if it starts it needs a new pump.

my 95 gt was doing the same thing. I went to a salvage yard got me a used distributor and stopped having problems. My dad said that inside it there is this kind of diode that wears out over time so you have to change the whole distributor.

I had the exact promblem, the cuase was of the problem was the stator ($15 dollar part in the distribtor). Once the engine got hot the stator will fail, once it cools it may work again. Luckly for me it got to the point like you where it just failed and would not work at all. This is a common fail on Ford 5.0 for 94-95
To change the stator is easy just pull the distributor and remove the driven gear, this will allow you access to change the stator.
