hello my names ryan and ive recently bought a 1986 5.0 H.O mustang Gt
im looking at spending around 8000.00 between motor and tranny/and if i can in this price range.. beterhandeling front end( a-arms, k member)bebecause the front tires seem to be cambered( wearing on the side of tires rilly bad even at proper pressure and not cornering hard. its running an automatic trans and i wish to swap for a manual... i was looking around on ford racing and i found tremic hd 5 speed(close ratio 1st-4th)-2200.00 i was hoping to use stock block and bore and rebuild and i need a spec sheet/build guid that could give me part numbers or models so i know wat parts to buy. im looking at trying for 450 hp or in that range (anywere in the 10 second range to rival my budys 11 second flat 1968 nova ss)

Wow!!! Slow down a second Ryan. Rome wasn't built in a day my friend. Simple caster/camber plates and good alignment will go a long way in the handling and tire wear department. You can use your stock block, but a .030" overbore is well within your budget. I would do a 331 stroker crank surrounded with good rods and pistons. Use a custom cam from someone like Rich Groh Racing or Flowtech Induction. For heads, I would highly recommend AFR 185 Comp heads. For an intake I would go with a Holley SysteMAX or Edelbrock Performer RPM II with the requisite throttle body and mass air set-up. Using a good tuner and a properly set-up chassis, your '86 should at least run mid-11s with a stick. A small shot of juice should get you to the 10s.
