ok guys I have been trying to figure this out for some time now but over the winter i put together a 347 stroker motor with 11:1 compression, AFR 185 cyl heads, edelbrock performer rpm 2 intake, 30lb injectors with 255 fuel pump, and comp xe282hr camshaft and bbk 1 3/4 long tube headers. Now this is the same combination used in one of the magazines i have that i did alot of research on. so when i first started the motor and had the revs up to 2000 rpms for break in i noticed both headers glowing cherry red, so i shut the motor down and let it cool off a little while and tried again and nothing was glowing. two days later they start glowing again so i went through with timing and reset the manifold twice put new plugs in it again and tried and then only two primaries were glowing numbers 3 and 4. so i went through the next day and reset my valve lash on all cylinders, retorqued the lower manifold and swapped around some injectors, fired it up and no glowing. then i set the timing to 34 total advance and i had been driving it around for a week with no problems until last night i left my house and when getting off the clutch it seemed to be bucking really hard until you got the rpms up a little and it really seemed to not be making good power. then the idle dropped down to about 650, usually around 850-900 so i looked and there numbers 3 and 4 were glowing again and throwing off mad heat. also the rockers around those cylinders seem to be making alot more noise than when i set them last and more than all the others from what i can hear. I am lost here and hoping somone might have an answer for me anything would probably be helpful. also i have only put about 200 miles on the motor this past week since i have been driving it and also since i built it. thanks guys, hope someone can shed some light on the subject!!!!

I believe that means you have a lean condition in those cylinders.

I had the same problem with my 347 (10.7 CR) when I first started up. The problem was the timing. It was off for I don't know how much...but I pulled the distributor, aligned the piston to TDC and put the distributor back;making sure it will fire up cylinder #1. it worked and the car is running fine. I hope it helps.
