I have a 1988 Mustang GT and my oil gauge will not work, I changed the sending unit and still no luck. This car also has the low oil light with a separate sending unit in the oil pan, could this have any affect on the dash gauge working.

I would test everything associated with the sender and the gauge. You may actually not have any oil pressure, and your bearings are eating themselves, along with the crank. Have you tried revving up the engine slightly to see if the oil pressure comes up?

The motor was totally shot, along with stuck lifters, purple pushrods and 5 of the 8 rockers were wore below the oil line. I had a Mustang expert build a used motor for me at a very, very reasonable price and its been smooth sailing ever since. All the gauges work as well as everything else. Thanks for you advice and support.
