try a rear seat delete kit. you can buy them custom made for your app. or build your own. you can build one to house your amps and subs nicely. One other thing is fold down the back seat. The mustang is built different from your lil rice racer. the back of your rear is built of denser materials. another thing to consider is your subs are not very effecient. sony explodes waste so much power. its a joke. 1200 watts is the peak. i have experience in custom car electronics. i have worked for two shops and one required mecp testing. in the real world use the rms rating. the max or peak power rating looks great for sales but is not real.

1. let's be realistic. Xplod subs can't handle 1300 REAL watts... if you want to compare apples to apples you'll need to use CEA power ratings, but I doubt sony publishes them.
2. There is a trick you can do to vent some of the bass out of your trunk and into the car if you're not willing to fold down the rear seat. I've done it on a couple cars. I'll look for pics of the vent.
Here are a couple installs I've done on NEW EDGE cars.

3. it's very difficult for me to imagine any reasons to have a lot of bass outside the vehicle. i have built some pretty big systems in the bed of trucks for people who want to go to the drive-in theater and play loud outside the vehicle, but that's about it.
4. outside-the-box thought: i know you say it's loud inside the vehicle, but you can go A LOT louder than Xplod 12"s in a Mustang. The Boston SPG sub i linked to above shook everything inside and outside the vehicle. My neighbors complained. It was awesome. and that was just ONE sub. The car could easily fit two or three of them.
Just a thought.
