I just read the latest news about the 2011 having a 5.0. I was just wondering if they will still make a supercharger for it that will be able to pick up the same amount of horsepower that it gave the 4.6. Also what valve will it have? (a 4v?). I guess i just dont know to much about this engine. Also are you able to use a supercharger with the shaker hood scoop or is it kinda just the same thing. Thanks for the help

The 4.6 is the 5.0,just bored over and some more internal go fast goodies. Supercharger? Woof, there's going to be horses running wild!!!! It's what they have been using in the GT Racing bad boys, you may remember the racing engines name as THE CAMMERS. 2011 is going to be a horsepower shoot out that will be legendary with they other two, that's if Obahma will alloy them to make them in his new motor companies (you can guess who I didn't vote for). Democrats have not been hot rod friendly group and now they own two car companies.

No, i don't think the 5.0 is just the 4.6 bored over. The reason the 4.6 has been a junk-azz piece of sh... (wait, that wouldn't be an appropriate thing for a "contributing author" to say) ... anyway, the reason I've not been crazy about the modular family is the lack of cubic inches. Chevy's been putting out big-inch big-power engines for a while now that burn cleanly and make good fuel mileage. But I digress... as I was saying, I think one of the modular family's biggest drawbacks is the inability to go big on the bore.
Word on the streets is that the 5.0 going in the 2011 is a NEW engine design with a LARGER BORE **SPACING**. In other words, larger bore, yes. But a larger bore with room to grow because of the increased bore spacing. Like we may be able to see 350+ cubic inches WITHOUT going "over-square" on the stroke!
I still would rather have a pushrod motor in the mustang, but I think the specific output (hp/L) on the modulars has been better than chevy's LS engines, so maybe we'll see some impressive stuff out of this new motor. 400hp N/A stock, will end up being near 500hp N/A with upgrades. Not bad for a little motor.
That's said, I'd bet on FRPP having a whipple blower ready to roll for the new engine. 500hp with a warranty. Very nice. I might buy a 2011 GT.
