I am wondering what kind of pistons does this engine have. i have read in articles that they dont have forged pistons but other articles say they do. can anyone help?

I see this thread is a month old. You may have already discovered the correct answer. I was hoping to find out also.

From what I understand, the hypereutectic pistons didn't show up until much later.

Forged pistons didn't come around until later. I want to say '88-'89. Hypereutectic pistons are not forged. Hypereutectic pistons have a higher silicon content than regular castings and expand less than forged pistons.
