1998 MUSTANG GT 4.6 ENGINE LONGEVITY

In terms of mileage what is the lifespan of a 4.6HO modular motor. My neighbor has a 1998 Mustang GT 4.6HO with automatic transmission. Its 100% bone-stock with 145K on the clock, its in 120% mint condition. Its female owner has owned the car for at least 10 years and its fully maintained by a reputable mechanic shop. It has no leaks and everything works on it. She's gonna sell it within the next few months and I'm first on the list once she decides to sell it.  

well, they're getting 300-400+ thousand miles in taxi cabs and cop cars.

I own a 1998 gt with a standard transmission. mine has 210,000 miles on the odo. It has been serviced religously and it still runs like it was new. It is bone stock except for normal wear items, i.e. filters, ball joints, trunk shocks, etc. but the engine fires right off as soon as I turn the key. The only thing you need to worry about is how it was driven and maintaned. Well not so much driven cause I've had mine since new and its been riden hard and put up wet if you get my drift. My only problem with it is I'm ready for more power and as everyone knows the 96-98 stangs weren't the best from the factory. They are still fun and it really just comes down to how well you know how the car was taking care of, because even the 96-98 stangs can be improved. Even though alot of people say they can't. I personally know one that is putting 1000 hp to the tires on a stock block with updated internals and non-pi heads.  

sounds like a winner to me. this car is female owned and I bet its never been driven over 100mph. its in showroom condition  

My Cobra runs like a champ still with 161k on the meter and recent power improvers.
