I have a 1988 5.0 after i drive it for a while like say 30 mintues to an hour sometimes it just dies out of nowhere. If I let it set for like 5 minutes it starts right back up and drives fine for a while. All the guages read like nothings wrong and the car just starts sputering like it needs gas or trying to fire and just dies. I can't find what the problem is If anyone can give me some helpful advice that would be great
-thanks-

try the pick-up module in the distributor. my 89 was doing basically the same thing and that fixed it.

I have a 89 mustang that acted in the same manner and I checked it with a code scanner and it turned out to be mt EGR sensor. I changed it and I haven't had any more problems.

ford had a recall or is going through a suit for the distributor pick up modual.. my firend had that same problem, the modual over heats and when it cools the car would run fine again..

Same thing was happening to me on my 88 Gt. Changed out the cap and rotor and it solved my problems.

check for spark when it dies. if there isnt any or a weak orange spark then the ignition module is bad. if you take the ignition module to an advance auto parts store they will test it for free. also if you find spark test for fuel. if itll run on ether your problem will be in the fuel system
