Question from a newbie for the sages. I was watching tv & wondering about my car when they started working on a Ford Explorer with a dead ringer for my intake setup. My set up is: I've got a 1978 Volvo 242GT with a Ford 90 5.0 & matching 5speed (the basic Converse Conversion).
It's been running rough & didn't pass smog. So not knowing much I threw cash at it for awhile. I've replaced the usual stuff. The O2 sensors, the cap & stator. It's also been sitting for awhile so bad gas could be part of this too (I know. I've got more than one problem to sort out!).
Anyway's, back to the tv show. They replaced & "ungummed" with mineral spirits several items attached to the throttle body & (I think) the intake manifold as well as the O2 sensors & they said it ran much better than before & it passed the sniff test (applied by them).
So what should I look at cleaning & replacing next in my effort to get my Forvo running right & "legal" (valid tags) ??
Thanks in advance & sorry for the long post!
Cris

Cris,
It might be the IAC motor, (Air Idle Control motor). Thats what I ended up having to do to mine to get it to run right. The IAC motor costs about $90.00 from Ford, it is real easy to put on yourself two bolts and a gastet. Remember to buy the gasket because it is sold seperate. Hope this helps.
