I was wanting to put Mac LT headers on my car with 3" collecters and a DR. Gas X-pipe that is 3" to 2.5" the reason for the "bottleneck" is because I have 2.5" muffler in and out and am pleased with the (Flowmaster 40 series). My question is does it make a difference in sound or power? The bottleneck or 3" all the way out? I know that if it decreases the pipe size the exhaust gasses will move at a higher velocity does that change the sound? Or shoudl I just invest the money and do 3" pipes all the way out for power gains if there even is any notible gains over 2.5"???? Any advice would be appreciated.

I'd stick with 2.5. If you go 3" then you will loose all sorts of backpressure and your car unless heavly modified will be slower than stock.
