I need help! I have a MONSTEROUSLY underpowered 2.3 L 93 mustang lx hatch with a AOD tranny. I am lookin into making the swap to a 5.0, but i don't know where to start. Can anybody help me? I need to know exactly what to get and where to get it and how much it will cost. I have some people that will help me assemble an engine if i get a new block and they will also help me make the swap but i need to figure out what parts i need to buy. Maybe it would be easier to find a doner car?

or you can do what i did and wait for a friend to flip a car and use that car as a donner car for all the parts you'll need lol... Good thing was my friend was ok, bad thing was the car didnt make it but it made one hell of a good donnor car and it only cost me 425 dollars, so i would go look around at some auctions and if you need to get someone with a trailer. Having a donnor car with all that you need helps alot!

One of the other responeses, re: Fletcher's website, is a BIG HELP, but to make things easier, a donor car is best. But if you want to go from scratch, you have to decide if you want EFI or Carburated, the later is the easiest. Build a good windsor motor, you'll need to pretty much remove the wiring harness for the fuel injection control for sure. You'll also need the appropraite tranny, your 4 cyl. one will not work. Another thing, you can ride on the 7.5 rearend till it gives, or funds allow, and you can used the stock springs, but expect less handling, until you can get a set of good OE 5.0 springs, or a good set of progressives. Brakes are definitely the next upgrade. Dont forget those when doing your swap. ITS worth the labor and I would also recommend sub frame connects to preserve your frame.

I'd just look on eBay myself for a 5.0 Mustang and egt ride of the 2.3 car completely. My VERY first car was a 1988 Mustang LX convertible with a 2.3L back in 1993. But while traveling through VA it got totaled and then i got a 1991 Mustang GT convertible. The difference was amazing. But then i lost that to my stupidity. But then in 2003 when i got back from Kuwait i got an already suped up 88 Mustang GT hatchback with a % speed. This car is even faster. Enough of this BS. Good luck man.
