We are looking to improve handling on an '05 Mustang convertible to limit the wheel hop and improve cornering without negatively impacting ride, as this is a daily driver.  It has the original 17" tires and wheels and we plan to keep them.

Can anyone recommend specific mods that have worked that a reasonably competent do-it-yourselfer could do?  Do the front and rear frame braces make a signficant difference?  What specific suspension mods would you recommend, including lowering ride height, if appropriate?

Thanks,

Alan

Look at Ford's handling pack and Eibach's kit they sell.  You will need to have the car aligned when your done.  The only tool you have to rent is a spring compressor for the front springs.  Most auto stores rent them.

Good Luck

check with Steeda I think they have a 5-link suspension that would work great for you.

I'd recommend going to Steeda, I've seen their S197 rear suspension parts used and the results are fantastic. Bewteen the springs, control arms, and sway bars, you can get your whell hop problem under control.

I can't remember if this is standard or not, but if your car has an open rear, I'd definitely look at installing a traction-lock unit or something similiar, that will also be a big help with your wheel hop problem.
