i've bought a 1994 mustang gt.its completely stock except for the flowmasters. i want to get atleast 300hp out of it but i have no idea where to start at. I'm only 17 so i'm on a budget and need to do the work that i can do myself first. What should be the best thing to bolt-on to feel the biggest difference.Oh, and i do plan to build the car the car up alot better in the future when i can afford it. I'm just tired of feeling like the four bangers can tear me up.Any help at all would be very very appreciated.

install a lower set of gears. it won't increase your horsepower, but it will give you more use of what you have. is it an auto or a 5speed?

it is an automatic. what size gears would you suggest and how badly will it hurt my top end speeds.

depends on what's in it now. 3.73's won't hurt your top end speed or kill your mileage and might not mess with the computer. i think the computer in  94 and 95 mustangs don't take to major changes very well. throws them in a limp home mode. other people on here know more about this than i do. maybe they'll chime in with some advice. good luck

wat about a k and n air filter does it do enough to worry about. and do underdrive pulleys help alot. i was planning on doin this kind of bolt on if they helped  a good bit. but i also heard that this stuff didnt help enough to bother with.

you won't be able to tell any difference with the k&n filter alone. i noticed in one of your other posts that you already have u/d pulleys. if you don't have any charging issues then you might as well leave them on. they do add 5 or 6 hp.

my car also feels like it doesnt really have any power. expecially in the low rpm rage it just kinda bogs down real bad. and when i get on it i can hear a faint rattle. i think it may be my valves but i'm not positive. i've thought about rebuilding the entire motor but i really have no idea how to even start that project. nor do i have the money to do so. the car does have almost 160k miles on it so it has been around. is there any hope on fixing it without having to pull the motor or paying someone to rebuild it.

yes, there's always hope. you need to find someone local that knows what their doing to check it out for you. look around you might find somebody that won't #### you around and #### you. listen and learn.

hey dude i have the same car as you and i'm also 17. i have had my car sense i was 15 and i can tell you i love that car. right now i have all these parts on it, MSD 6A ingnition box, MSD blaster coil, Ford Racing 9mm spark plug wires, MSD cap and rotor, BBK 65mm Throttle body, Vortech 78mm mass air meter, BBK cold air intake, Hooker super comp shortie headers, Bassani X-pipe with Magniflow cats(only because i live in CA and my car is a daily driver), Flowmaster Cat-back exhaust, and a BBK adjustable fuel pressure regulator. all these parts have made a considerble difference in my cars performance and i'm still saving to buy even more parts. out of the parts that i have put on my car i would say that the x-pipe, headers, cat-back, and cold air made the biggest difference. another good thing that you can buy that will drop your ETs by like half a second is some 3.73 or 4.10 gear in the rear. it all depends how far you want to go with your car. let me know if you have any more questions about your car

You have a great starting point for a project car!

Depending on how mechanically skilled you are, the first thign I'd look at is a full valvetrain upgrade, cam, springs, pushrods, rockers. That'll get you between 30-60 horsepower.

If that's ouside your budget, look doing some intake upgrades such as a cold air kit, a better intake manifold and a bigger throttle body.

Another upgrade is the ignition system. I've seen Crane HI-6 units bolted on to stock 5.0s get 30 horsepower increases.

The important thing with any of these mods is you'll need a good computer tune to get the most out of everything. Possibly the first thing you'd want to buy is a tuner for your car.

k&n rules. underdrive pullies rule go MARCH performance. Any bolt on you do to help horse power is great. Your car is only as good as your weakest link. They have a high amp series if you experience charging problems.
