Hey Everyone! I've been a Mustang owner for a few years now, but they've been new mustangs. I'm thinking of buying a 1991 Mustang GT and upgrading it with a more powerful/efficient engine and adding some modern amenities.
I wanted to get your guys' opinion on a good daily driver engine to get that can still provide me with solid gas mileage. I'm thinking of the new 5.0 that ford put out. It says 412hp and 25/17 mpg, that's pretty solid in my eyes. But I'd even be willing to cut down on the power in exchange for better mpg. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance!

It is pretty easy to get 20-25 mpg @250-350 HP out of the old 5.0. Maybe even more HP if you go with a turbo. The new 5.0 is a great engine bit the swap is a PITA. See the great coverage on this topic in the mag the last few months.
