1984 svo

was the 84 svo 4 cylinder turbo charged car a carb or fuel injected setup? does the k member allow a 302/351 swap or must you change the k member? has anyone done this swap and how did it work out for you?

more than likely you will be able to drop a V8 in... but WHY... if the 84 SVO you are looking at is running properly.. you have a LOT of potential with that hairdryer boosted motor..


a former boss had a 87 turbo coupe.. slight variation on the SVO turbo motor..

he could run it late at night against the SPEED LIMITER... since it was a 5 speed version .. that ment 143MPH..  with an intercooled turbo 2.3...  the automatic transmission versions were speed limited to 120...  when his foot was Not buried.. he got decent fuel economy..   i drove another friends 87 turbo coupe.. came home from san francisco to hollywood on a single tank of gas...  with 5 people in the car..  what a blast to drive..

if you are going to remove your turbo 2.3.. there are a lot of people who will want to buy it .. for other ford projects..   ranger trucks.. early mustangs and fairlanes... have even seen a few in fairmonts..  

thank you for the response, the car does not presently have a motor/transmission in it. the body, interior seem to be okay. i have several 302/351 combos with autos/5 speeds available for swap, i was curious to see if anyone else had done the swap and what were the results.  

4 or 6 to 8 swaps are done daily...

302/5.0 and people have installed 5.8 motors also...


people have wedged in 460 ford motors also...


you should have seen the 500 caddy motor wedged in the chevette over at hot rod a few years back..
